釣魚 is a profession in the gathering artisan class.[3][4][5]
- There won't be AFK fishing.[5]
- There may be fishing style tournaments.[6]
- Fishing will be lucrative if done well.[7]
- There are multiple types of fishing in Ashes of Creation.[8][9]
Treasures may be obtained through fishing and by exploring naval content.[10][11]

Part of creating these systems, especially systems like fishing that have a specific progressive route requiring higher-level equipment- Harvesting tools so to speak- before you're capable of actually harvesting specific types of fish that yield greater materials for players. I mean that's all part of the progression of that system accompanying that obviously is going to be the detail behind those tools reflecting the more ornate and higher profession quality that players have.[14] – Steven Sharif
Fishing poles are an artisan tool in Ashes of Creation.[16]
- Higher level fishing poles are unlocked by progression in the 釣魚 profession. These enable gathering of higher level fish.[14]
Players can obtain fishing pole cosmetics through achievement or purchase.[16]

Fishing boats in Ashes of Creation are utilized in deep sea fishing.[18][8][9][19][20][21][22]
Fish
Here you're seeing different types of fish. Obviously these all exist probably within the same tier of the fishing profession; and then as - as the profession levels up you're going to have access to larger fish; to even perhaps more dangerous fish- we'll see. Fish are gatherable resources obtained with the 釣魚 profession.[5]
- There are different tiers of fish available to artisans as they level up their fishing profession.[24]
- Fish exist in community resource nodes until depleted, then they will respawn elsewhere.[25]
- There will be unique species of fish in the Underrealm.[26][27][28]
