The idea is that this is a longer cast time and that you can slowly start to spawn your family members. Now you can only be ever be a member of one family so it's important if you want to coordinate kind of constant party or PvE groups that you coordinate which families you're a part of so that you can summon out to different dungeons and whatnot.[1] – Steven Sharif

Family names
Characters will have a first-name and an optional surname (last name).[3]
- Character names are unique per server.[4]
- Character name changes will be possible during server merges.[4]
- There is a minimum length of three for a character name.[5]
- Special characters, including apostrophes and hyphens, are currently not allowed in character names.[6]
- Currently we don't allow special characters in character names (including apostrophes and/or hyphens). It's possible this changes in the future.[6] – Ry Schueller
