There will likely be a toggleable walk/run (autorun) capability in the game.[2]

  • There is not going to be any "go to waypoint" (auto-pathing) mechanics.[3]

Back-peddling (walking backwards) and strafing are slower than normal movement speed.[4]

Utility skills

A utility skill is a non-combat skill that interacts with the environment.[6] Utility skills lend themselves toward how classes navigate and deal with hazards in the world.[7]

  • Different classes excel at different skills.[7]
  • All classes will have maneuverability/traversal utility abilities.[8]
    • There will be a grappling hook utility skill or item.[9]
  • Classes will have utility abilities, such as detecting traps and other hazards. For example: The Mage's detection spell casts light and reveals magical explosive hazards.[10]
  • Certain classes are able to climb/parkour in certain areas.[11][12]
    • Climbing/parkour ability is not free-form and will likely be restricted to certain quests, locations or objects.[13][14]
  • Certain classes (such as Rogues) will have stealth abilities.[15]
    • Rogues may also have a spyglass utility skill.[7]

We don't just have the approach of your class being reflected in your combat abilities but also there are utility abilities that certain classes have that other classes don't have.[16]Steven Sharif

Forcefield forcefield icon.png Eats mana based on flight height and duration. Mitigates incoming damage by eating mana at a high consumption. Has mixed utility and defensive application.[21] - -

Collision

There are player and spell collision mechanics in 创造的灰烬.[27]

Mobility

Very few abilities will require a player to remain stationary during combat.[28] Prone and crouch will likely not be in the game.[29]

Mobility is very important especially when it comes to ... seeing how the opposing player is doing something and then reacting to that fast enough so that you can get out of the way of it.[30]Jeffrey Bard

Mage's escape mages escape icon.png Step into another dimension momentarily and emerge far ahead of your original position.[23] Blink teleport out of danger.[35] Clears targets and aggro reduction.[35] Clears crowd control.[35]
Rush rush icon.png Rush toward a target; and upon reaching the target, deal an amount damage with a chance to knock the target down.[36] - -
Sprint sprint icon.png Increases movement speed. Using an ability ends sprint.[37] Increased resistance to disable abilities.[37] Clears crowd control when sprint starts and removes silence.[37]
Super jump The longer it's charged the more it costs and the higher and further the player will jump. A player can redeploy their Griffin if they jump high enough.[38]
Warp Space Warp Space Icon.png For the duration of this spell, any successful hit will swap your location with that of your target.[39]

  • Cooldown: 10 sec

Dodging

Our dodge and movement mechanics are going to include, you know, templated skills in positioning; and if you're not under that template as it progresses then you're not going to be hit; and dodge will allow your character to move from that template.[40]Steven Sharif

Armor characteristics

Light armor

  • Lighter armor is more mobile than heavier armor.[41]

Heavy armor

  • Heavy armor typically has more HP than lighter armor.[41]
  • Heavy armor is geared towards physical damage mitigation.[42]

Cloth armor (passive) Increases armor given by cloth armor.[43] Further increases armor given by cloth armor.[43] Bonus mana for each piece of cloth armor.[43]
Heavy armor (passive) Increases armor given by heavy armor.[44] Further increases armor given.[44] Each piece of armor added gives health percentage bonus to the tank.[44]
Light armor (passive) Increases armor given by light armor.[45] Further increases armor given by light armor.[45] Each piece of light armor increases damage.[45]
Medium armor (passive) Increases armor given by medium armor.[46] Further increases armor given by medium armor.[46] If medium armor worn in all slots gives a balance of health and mana less than the health given.[46]

Inventory (weight)

Personal inventory space (weight limit) is tied to a backpack. 大篷车 and 骡子 are intended to be the primary mode of transportation of goods.[47]

  • 骡子 can carry roughly 10 times more than backpacks. Caravans can carry roughly 10 times more than mules.[48]

Jumping

Jumping over a pit trap in Alpha-0 Dünheim dungeon.[51]

Jumping puzzles will occasionally feature in the world.[52]

Public transportation

There will be multiple levels of public transportation, including travel benefits of scientific metropolises.[53]

There will be public transport services where players can go AFK and be driven somewhere.[54]

  • It is possible that such services could be player-driven.[54]

One of the nodes has the idea of an airship that can go from node to node and I'm certain that we will have harbors that do similar things with other node types... It might be something that could be player-driven... We're sure to have a taxi system you know where you load up a couple people and you drive them somewhere while you AFK.[54]Jeffrey Bard

Fast travel

Fast travel is limited in 创造的灰烬.[55]

There is very little teleportation in the world. Some of that does get unlocked through metropolises of a certain type. Additionally there are mounts that are faster travel and there are services that are fast travel between nodes.[3]Steven Sharif

Even though there's not fast travel, there is faster travel. So you know mount ridden. There will be connection points between certain nodes via the use of like flying automated creatures that you can use. Stuff like that.[57]Steven Sharif
